This course introduces the thought and vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The students are introduced to the lives of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, their key ideas about the evolutionary potential of humankind from philosophical, psychological and sociological perspectives, and the method of Integral Yoga. The course deepens one’s understanding of the individual and collective evolutionary challenges that confront us today. There is an exciting new vision of the Future contained in these writings – which is full of promise of an adventure for those who aspire for it.


This course aims at introducing the students to the thought of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The students are introduced to the lives of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, their key ideas about the evolutionary potential of humankind from philosophical, psychological and sociological perspectives, and the method of Integral Yoga. Objectives: • To give an introduction to the lives and works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. • To give an overview of the key philosophical ideas of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. • To provide a basic understanding of the psychological and sociological evolutionary potential of humankind. • To give an introduction to Integral Yoga and its practice. Lecture Units: 1. Introduction to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother 2. Integral Philosophy: Some Key Concepts 3. The Planes and Parts of the Being 4. The Fundamentals of Integral Yoga & Transformation 5. Social Evolution: Moving towards a Life Divine on Earth Prerequisites: Undergraduate course in any discipline or Facilitator’s consent; Good knowledge of English; Internet skills & access
